Foundation for Child Education Africa works in Uganda in the rural area between Jinja and lake Victoria. It’s a no profit institution founded by Ugandan to benefit Ugandan families and children and I am proud to have volunteered to collaborate with their amazing project. Their mission is to help those families that cannot afford schooling costs for all of their children. The foundation sponsors 1 kid per family and follow up the kids in their studies to the point that some of them will be chosen based on results in order to keep studying until university.

I was asked to document the protagonists of these stories travelling around the countryside to meet the families. My goal was not only to show their faces but to tell their story. So I needed to have a plan to give consistency to all the pictures I would have taken and to show the benefits (books and school material) they were provided, their family and the environment they grew up into: that is why I usually shot 2 pictures per protagonist where in the first we see them in the foreground with their books and in the background their family and home slightly out of focus, while in the second one they are surrounded by their family. The color correction is natural (no color were altered) and has a documentary style to respect the nature of the subject and the final purpose of the pictures.
